-De Beers Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Mobile Maintenance Team at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and working a two-week in/two-week out rotation, the incumbent position will oversee the development, implementation and optimization of the Asset Maintenance Management Strategy within the Mobile Maintenance Department. The role will be responsible for managing and overseeing Maintenance Tactics, Condition Monitoring, Work Management, Defect Elimination, Planning and Technical Expediting for the execution of the Maintenance Management system. The ideal candidate is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Establishing and maintaining safe work practices and environment and ensuring legal compliance;
  • Managing and overseeing condition monitoring; ensuring that standards, procedures and best practices;
  • Managing and overseeing the Mobile Maintenance Planning Department to ensure accurate scheduling of all maintenance of mobile equipment and accurately capturing downtime on all equipment;
  • Implementing and updating an asset management system for the operation that is in alignment with DBCI Asset Management Strategy, ensuring that reports on the availability of the machinery are compiled;
  • Calculating the mean time between failures of machinery and making recommendations based on report findings;
  • Managing and overseeing the maintenance services contractor;
  • Managing and controlling working costs and capital budgets; and
  • Evaluate systems and procedures to gauge their effectiveness and develop and implement alternative systems through innovation and creative thinking.


  • Qualifications
    -Degree or diploma in instrumentation/electrical or Mechanical engineering, or possess a valid Inter-provincial trade qualification certificate in a related field;
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in an Open Pit mining environment with a fleet that supports a large tonnage operation, including shovel/truck combinations, production drills, ancillary and other support equipment;
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience in a similar role with excellent communication and leadership skills;
  • The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of maintenance systems and planning, the NWT Mine Health & Safety Act and other relevant safety acts and legislation;
  • NWT WSCC Supervisor\'s Level 2 Certificate is required;
  • Strong verbal and written communication, financial, budget preparation and time management skills are essential; and
  • Strong computer skills required with previous SAP experience an asset.
Desirable Assets
  • Experience in remote mining operations;
  • SAP S4/HANA proficiency;
  • Anglo Operating Model knowledge and application.
