De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Mobile Maintenance department at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Superintendent and working a two week in/two week out rotation, this position is responsible for the safe, efficient, accurate and cost-effective management of the mechanical maintenance of the mobile equipment fleet. The successful candidate will provide leadership and be responsible for the development of and providing direction to maintenance personnel to enable the consistent achievement of the business objectives. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Working with teams to conduct job risk assessments and safe work plans ahead of the work being completed;
  • Supervising of all the maintenance repairs planned, and unplanned;
  • Monitoring the performance of all the maintenance personnel in the shop and field;
  • Providing the required reports as requested by stakeholders;
  • Training maintenance personnel under your supervision to provide a safe, efficient and effective work place;
  • Participating in the evaluation of direct reports providing constructive feedback to improve their competency;
  • Assisting in the development of work procedures, safe work procedures, systems and standards;
  • Assisting in the development of equipment parts lists, consumable lists, stock levels of parts and consumables; and
  • Assisting in the tool requirements of the maintenance personnel, tool store and any special tools that may be required.
This position will be working 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

Qualifications
  • Interprovincial Trade Certificate for Heavy Equipment;
  • Experience working in heavy equipment and open cut mining (10+ years);
  • Experience as a supervisor or lead hand (5+ years);
  • Knowledge of welding and/or fabrication for truck boxes, dozer blades and truck boxes;
  • Detailed knowledge of established mining methods and operating practices;
  • General knowledge of mining and the integration of the mining, milling, and maintenance functions;
  • Experience working in a multiple shovel/excavator/truck operations; preferably Komatsu Equipment;
  • Ability to communicate, share information and seek input to complete jobs in a safe manner;
  • Ability to operate within MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a computerized maintenance management system (SAP);
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards; and
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.
