De Beers Group has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Mine Operations team at the Gahcho Ku\xc3\xa9 Mine Site based in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Mobile Maintenance Supervisor and working a two week in/two week out rotation, the incumbent will be responsible for the steam cleaning of mining equipment, general housekeeping around the maintenance area and service support to the maintenance team. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing quality wash and steam clean on equipment;
  • Conducting pre-operating inspections on shop overhead cranes and support equipment;
  • Supporting and assisting Heavy Equipment Technicians in the repair of mining equipment;
  • Performing all work assigned in a safe, well-managed manner;
  • Recognizing, identifying and communicating potential problems;
  • Complying with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct; and
  • Consistently exercising discretion and judgment in job performance.
Qualifications
  • Preference will be given to Members of the Deninu Ku\xc3\xa9, Lutsel K\'e Dene First Nation, North Slave M\xc3\xa9tis Alliance, Northwest Territory M\xc3\xa9tis Nation, Tlicho Government, or Yellowknives Dene First Nation, followed by non-indigenous residents of the Northwest Territories; a resident of the Northwest Territories;
  • 1+ years of basic mechanical skills with experience in maintenance;
  • Experience operating Forklift, Telehandler/Zoom Boom and Skid Steer Loader;
  • Ability to pass driver competency course and exam;
  • General understanding of mining and maintenance operations;
  • Ability to work independently and communicated effectively to other employees and supervisors;
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment; and
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental Standards.
