Our Team:

The North Atlantic Projects Group and its subset Surface Projects and Studies Team help to deliver key projects through study and into execution phases. The project team has a significant number of projects in the pipeline that require disciplined individuals to help deliver timely and quality driven results.

The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Mineral Resources Manager to join our Exploration Base Metals department. This is a permanent position.

This position is accountable for leading a team of professionals in identifying and assessing potential mineral deposits, ensuring compliance with regulations, and optimizing resource utilization. This role requires a strong understanding of geology, mining operations, and resource estimation techniques. The Mineral Resources Manager oversees and manages all aspects related to the exploration, evaluation, and development of mineral resources with a strategic mindset to drive effectively decision-making in mineral resource management.

Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for mineral resource exploration, evaluation, and development in alignment with Base Metals project development goals and industry best practices.
  • Design and oversee Base Metals drilling programs to collect geological data for resource estimation and evaluation purposes.
  • Utilize geological and geostatistical software tools to model, estimate, and assess the quantity and quality of mineral resources.
  • Conduct economic evaluations and feasibility studies to determine the viability of mineral deposits for extraction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory authorities, to ensure compliance with legal and environmental regulations throughout the mining process.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to senior management and stakeholders regarding mineral resource potential, project development opportunities, and risk assessment.
  • FEL 1, 2 and FEL3 mineral resource evaluation and signoffs.
  • Conduct resource estimation and classification for projects using appropriate methodologies and software tools, considering geological, geotechnical, and metallurgical factors.
  • Develop and disclose mineral resource estimates in compliance with internal MRMR guidelines and international codes and legislations (ANM Brazil, SEC USA, CIMM Canada, JORC Australasia).
  • Evaluate exploration results and provide technical recommendations and interpretations to guide decision-making processes.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing exploration findings, resource potential, and further development recommendations.
  • Monitor changes in global regulatory frameworks and ensure compliance with local laws and international standards.
About You

Education:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree required.
  • Required certification in P. Geo.
Experience:
  • 11 to 15 years of relevant mineral resourcing experience.
Skills:
  • Agree with requirements and project business case, particularly deliverables and reporting structure;
  • Ensure aligned definition of project scope, deliverables and key issues;
  • Identify and manage relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external to Vale) \xe2\x80\x93 e.g., geologist, engineers, service providers, environment, regulators;
  • Familiar with new technological trends pertaining mineral resource modeling and reporting;
