We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious
Millwright Electrician
with experience in the concrete construction industry. This dual-role position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems across our concrete batching plants, precast facilities, and field equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operation of critical production systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial mechanical and electrical equipment used in concrete batching, mixing, conveying, and forming.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment such as:
Batching plants
Concrete mixers
Conveyor belts
Cement silos
Dust collection systems
Vibrators and hydraulic systems
Diagnose and resolve issues with motors, pumps, gearboxes, and control systems.
Install and repair electrical systems including wiring, control panels, PLCs, sensors, and VFDs.
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
Work closely with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and support safe, efficient plant operation.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and inspections using tracking systems.
Knowledge of single phase and three phase AC circuits.
Qualifications:
Certified
Industrial Electrician
and
Millwright
(Red Seal or provincial equivalent strongly preferred).
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a heavy industrial or concrete production environment.
Strong knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems, PLC troubleshooting, and mechanical power transmission systems.
Hands-on experience with concrete batching and production equipment.
Excellent troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to work from heights, in confined spaces, and in outdoor conditions.
Familiarity with CSA/NEC codes and industry best practices.
Preferred Assets:
Experience with mobile concrete equipment (e.g., volumetric mixers, pavers, etc.).
Welding and fabrication skills considered an asset.
Certifications in fall protection, confined space entry, rigging, and aerial lift operation.
Familiarity with SCADA systems or plant automation technologies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and working in awkward positions.
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and dust.
Must be available for shift work, overtime, and emergency callouts as needed.
