POSITION OVERVIEW



In the position of Maintenance Team Member, you will make a difference every single day as you ensure that all machinery is properly maintained and functioning safely to facilitate uninterrupted production. The precise execution of maintenance tasks and the diligent completion of documentation are vital components that support our SQF Food Safety and Quality Program.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS



Grade 12 education, complemented by strong written and verbal proficiency in English as well as mathematical skills, is required. Possession of a Millwright trade license and relevant certification is essential, while proficiency in welding is considered a significant asset. The ability to troubleshoot machinery is mandatory. Applicants must demonstrate strong leadership and communication competencies, enabling them to provide clear and concise instructions that foster team effectiveness. Excellent organizational skills and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision are requisite. An Equipment Operator's Certification is necessary for operating forklifts and pallet jacks, or the willingness to obtain such certifications is required. Candidates must possess the ability to follow established procedures and efficiently prioritize and organize their workload. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and people skills that engage employees, cultivate a team environment, enhance productivity, and facilitate the achievement of PCI plant business objectives are critical. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary, with proven capacity to convey information effectively in both individual and group contexts. A focus on quality is imperative, including the development and adherence to the Quality Policy and standard operating procedures that enhance plant efficiencies. Up-to-date knowledge and technical expertise in HACCP and SQF standards, regulations, and practices are required. Prior experience in maintenance processes and procedures within a manufacturing environment, particularly in food processing, is preferred. The ability to remain flexible and composed under crisis situations is essential. Knowledge and application of lean manufacturing principles are necessary. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills, along with the capability to troubleshoot as issues arise while involving staff in the decision-making process, are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES



Maintenance



Maintain a comprehensive Preventative Maintenance Program. Ensure that all documentation is accurately maintained across all platforms, including the Fiix CMMS. Ensure all work orders are being submitted on Fiix for the work being completed. Ensure all potential issues are documented using Fiix and work orders are generated. Respond promptly to machine-related issues and efficiently resolve breakdowns. Support all departments of the plant as needed, including outside of a maintenance aspect. Oversee the preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime while ensuring the availability of spare parts to replace any broken or worn-out components. Ensure all material used is accounted for on work orders and low stock items are relayed to the maintenance Coordinator, Team lead or maintenance Manager Ensure work orders are being completed in a timely manner according to their priority Document any maintenance conditions that may jeopardize food safety and report these to the Maintenance Manager. Ensure compliance with Outside Contractors sign-off by all contractors. Adhere to all company policies and engage in safe work practices while always maintaining cleanliness in work areas. Attend all required training sessions and scheduled meetings as directed by the Plant Manager or Maintenance Manager. Report all accidents, incidents, near misses, and hazards, completing the necessary documentation in each case. In the event of an accident occurring during a shift, including minor incidents, ensure that an accident report is duly completed. Aid co-workers as needed. - Execute all other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.

Food Safety & Sanitation



Ensure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) are comprehended and followed by all team members, encompassing all processing, maintenance, and sanitation activities, as well as adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), proper documentation, safe work practices, and appropriate personal hygiene measures to uphold food safety standards. Facilitate the timely dissemination of SOPs throughout the system, offering training to affected staff on the implementation, documentation, and monitoring of new and revised procedures. Lead the completion of HACCP and SQF initiatives for all maintenance personnel.

Sanitation



Assist team leaders in fostering consistent and productive communication with the Shift Supervisor to elevate the sanitation program to a standard that is both observable within the plant and auditable by third parties.

Quality



Address all quality-related issues by actively participating in root cause analysis and developing corrective actions to prevent the recurrence of such issues, particularly in relation to mechanical solutions. Ensure that GMPs and SOPs are clearly defined, comprehensively trained on, and consistently practiced minimizing errors, achieve quality results on the first attempt, and reduce or eliminate waste and rework. Establish and implement procedures to guarantee compliance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) standards.

Safety & Work Environment



To mitigate the risk of injuries, ensure that all team members understand and implement safe methods for completing assigned tasks. This encompasses the proper use of personal protective equipment (such as safety glasses, earplugs, and chemical gloves) and adherence to safe work practices (including proper lifting techniques, lock-out/tag-out procedures, confined space entry protocols, and appropriate knife usage).
