May 30, 2024MILLWRIGHT APPRENTICE (BAND LEVEL 6)Department of Facilities Management(Contractual Position to March 31, 2025)DUTIESThe successful applicant will perform tasks in accordance with standard trade practices including the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of a variety of mechanical equipment and machinery within the main campus, Ocean Sciences Center, Signal Hill Campus, and other University properties. Duties include responding to routine and emergency calls on a variety of mechanical equipment; inspecting and troubleshooting a variety of mechanical equipment; maintaining heating and ventilation systems including exhaust fans and fume hoods, diesel generators, compressors and pumps, and air conditioning equipment; performing winter lay up and spring activation of large chilled water systems; conducting daily checks on chlorine and alkalinity levels in the University swimming pool; checking fuel tank levels; maintaining compressed air systems, domestic hot water systems, and propane systems; carrying out minor new installations; and performing other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful candidates must have completed pre-apprenticeship (entry-level) training at a recognized institution towards journeyperson certification in the respective trade. Candidates currently enrolled in the pre-apprenticeship training will also be considered. Candidates must be eligible to enter in the apprenticeship program under the Department of Education (Industrial Training Section). Possession of a valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract, as issued by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, is required.SALARY $20.45 - $28.31 per hour based on year of apprenticeship programIn accordance with NAPE 7801 collective agreementCLOSING DATE June 13, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. NDTAll qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to applicants who are legally entitled to work in Canada.
