Purpose of the Millwright Role:

The Millwright at Sierra Supply Chain Services plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of machinery and equipment within the Sierra Custom Foods Facility. By delivering expert installation, maintenance, and repair services, the Millwright contributes significantly to our commitment to delivering customized and value-driven supply chain solutions to the food processing and distribution sector. Safety, precision, and continuous improvement are at the heart of the Millwright\'s responsibilities, ultimately contributing to the overall success of our clients by optimizing operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maintaining the highest quality standards in the protein industry.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Millwright at Sierra Supply Chain Services, you will:
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and equipment in the Sierra Custom Foods Facility, including blast freezing units, tempering equipment, grinding machines, sizing equipment, slicing machines, and trimming devices.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes of issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Develop and execute a preventive maintenance program to ensure continuous machinery and equipment operation. Regularly inspect, lubricate, and adjust components to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and align machinery to ensure accurate and consistent performance, following established protocols and standards.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including repair logs, equipment performance data, and spare parts inventory. Adhere to regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including technicians, engineers, and production personnel, to coordinate maintenance activities, share knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Safety and Compliance: Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures, identifying potential hazards, and promptly addressing any safety concerns.
Minimum Requirements:

Education and/or Professional Designation:
  • Relevant licenses and certificates may be required, such as a 433A Millwright License.
  • Courses in mechanical drawing, electricity, and blueprint reading are a plus.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a food production environment or assembly, manufacturing, and equipment maintenance.
  • Proven experience as a millwright.
  • Mechanical drawing, electricity, and blueprint reading proficiency.
Language Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Fluent in English.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong technical knowledge across multiple domains (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, heating, etc.).
  • DC/AC/Servo Motors - service and installation.
  • VFD Motor Driver installation and service.
  • Ability to install and repair gears, sprockets, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains.
  • Welding experience.
  • Control system experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems and CMMS.
Soft Skills:
  • Thrives in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity and interest in learning and developing.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Physical strength and good hand-eye coordination
