Position Summary and Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Service Manager, the
Microsoft 365 Consultant
utilizes their expert technical knowledge to work directly with clients to assess their Microsoft 365 environments, implement robust security controls, and drive business outcomes through the adoption of Copilot and modern workplace solutions. The Microsoft 365 Consultant will be responsible for providing in-depth Microsoft 365 subject matter expertise and technical leadership for the current and future delivery, vision and continuous improvement of production services in the M365 environment.
You Should Know:
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (typically) - you need to be available to internal and external clients.
The candidate MUST be local to Ottawa.
You must have a valid drivers license and access to a vehicle for work.
Requires eligibility for security clearance..
You will be required to participate in the on-call schedule.
What You'll Do as a
Microsoft 365 Consultant - Security & Copilot Specialist
:
Lead client engagements to
assess, design, and implement Microsoft 365 security best practices
, including:
+ Microsoft Defender for Office 365
+ Entra ID conditional access and identity governance
+ Microsoft Purview (DLP, Insider Risk, Compliance Manager)
+ Secure Score optimization Deploy and train users on
Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365
, including change management, productivity workflows, and responsible AI adoption
Design and implement
Entra ID configurations
, MFA policies, RBAC, and secure authentication flows
Collaborate with clients to establish
Zero Trust and compliance-aligned strategies
(e.g., NIST CSF, Canadian Baseline Controls)
Conduct Microsoft 365
tenant health checks, audits, and migrations
Document architecture decisions, write security-focused SOPs, and provide technical guidance
Support presales efforts by contributing to solution design, scopes of work, and client demos
Keep up with Microsoft roadmap changes and contribute internally to knowledge sharing and service development
Develop plans, training, seminars, Q&A sessions and communications materials to support user adoption of M365 solutions.
Lead the technical teams in planning the releases of new M365 features
Communicate internally and externally on client project statuses, planned changes, and outages
Assist Account Executives and clientele in defining technical requirements and solutions
Create accurate and effective documentation, assisting with best practices development
Other relevant job duties, as assigned from time to time
Here's What We're Looking For:
Exceptionally strong IT background with a focus on network support, implementation, and remote as well as onsite support
3-5+ years of experience
with Microsoft 365 consulting, ideally within an MSP or systems integrator environment
Strong working knowledge of:
+ Microsoft Entra ID / Azure AD
+ Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Office 365, and Identity
+ Microsoft Purview and Compliance Manager
+ Copilot for Microsoft 365 (early adoption experience a plus) Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API, Power Automate, and PowerShell scripting
Experience with Microsoft Secure Score, compliance score, and identity protection reports
Understanding of data classification, retention labels, and DLP strategies
Microsoft certifications preferred:
MS-500, SC-300, SC-400, or relevant M365/Azure certs
Copilot-related certifications or proof of experience
Exceptionally strong problem-solving, planning skills and follow-through skills.
