As a Governance & Compliance Consultant, you'll assess Microsoft 365 tenants, recommend and implement governance frameworks, and help clients configure tools like
Purview, sensitivity labels, DLP
, and
external sharing policies
. You'll also help organizations
prepare for Copilot adoption
, ensuring the right people have access to the right information at the right time.
What You'll Do
Governance Planning & Implementation
Develop and document governance frameworks tailored to each client's Microsoft 365 environment and risk profile.
Advise on and implement governance controls across SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Power Platform.
Lead working sessions to define ownership, lifecycle management, naming conventions, and site provisioning processes.
Security, Compliance & Risk
Configure and educate clients on Microsoft 365 compliance tools, including
Purview
,
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
,
eDiscovery
,
Information Protection
, and
Records Management
.
Assess tenant-level and workload-specific security postures and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Support policy alignment for
external sharing
,
guest access
, and
conditional access
scenarios.
Copilot Readiness & Content Strategy
Evaluate Microsoft 365 environments for
Copilot readiness
--including permissions, metadata, site architecture, and sensitivity labeling.
Help clients build strategies to ensure
secure AI-powered productivity
, with appropriate visibility, governance, and traceability.
Collaborate with solution architects to advise on content segmentation, security trimming, and Graph accessibility.
Client Consulting & Enablement
Act as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders--including IT, information governance, and compliance leaders.
Deliver workshops, executive briefings, and hands-on configuration support.
Provide documentation, training materials, and internal guidelines to ensure governance can be sustained after implementation.
What You Bring
5+ years
of experience with Microsoft 365 governance, administration, or compliance-related roles.
Strong understanding of Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender for M365, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and auditing tools.
Experience implementing
compliance and collaboration policies
in real-world environments--particularly hybrid or regulated industries.
Familiarity with SharePoint Online architecture, Teams policies, Power Platform environment strategies, and Azure AD concepts.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Graph, Copilot content access models, and AI-related security considerations.
Experience consulting with clients on policy, security, or governance planning--ideally in a Microsoft partner or professional services context.
Strong documentation, presentation, and client communication skills.
Microsoft certifications (e.g., SC-300, SC-400, MS-500) are a plus.
