In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Manager or designate, the Analyst is responsible for the review, assessment, development and documentation of Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Clinical services business processes, infrastructure requirements and initiative coordination. The analyst performs tracking and reporting of initiative activities as well as database development and sustainment. The Analyst ensures clinical systems are designed to optimally support clinical service delivery and incorporate reporting requirements.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor\'s Degree in a related discipline such as health Information sciences or business administration, complemented by formal training or certification in business process engineering. Five (5) years\' recent related experience working within a health care or related systems environment in an analytical capacity with three (3) years\' experience working in the capacity of a business analyst.
Skills And Abilities

  • Grounding in business process engineering with strong analytical skills including the ability to collect, analyze, document and interpret information using standardized business analysis methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to break down and simplify complex workflows in to discrete well defined activities
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead information-gathering sessions including guiding informants through analysis and process optimization.
  • Well-developed problem-solving, listening and recording skills.
  • Strong computer skills and extensive knowledge/ proficiency with the following applications: MS Office (word, Excel, outlooks, power point, publisher), Web publishing software, SharePoint, Visio, Database applications
  • Familiarity with electronic systems utilized in health care and the field of informatics.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management Methodology
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment with a variety of disciplines, to maintain and foster good working relationships including tact and diplomacy in dealing with a variety of work situations, and all levels of the organization.
  • Self motivated, able to work with minimal direct supervision, and has a demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a self-directed manner.
