Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services\' (AHS\') Indigenous Talent Acquisition Team has a new opportunity as M\xc3\xa9tis Medical Response (MMR) Training Advisor. Overall project is part of M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements Primary Care initiative which strives for health equity by establishing & sustaining access to primary care services in the 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements in partnership with M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements Health Board (MSHB). As first point of contact, you are a key player in developing, planning, executing, & delivering an Indigenous focused Medical Response Training program. Demonstrate skills in building trust/relationships, you collaborate with MSHB & Settlement communities & coordinate consultation between AHS, 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements, M\xc3\xa9tis Students, Educational Institution/Training Staff, Emergency Medical Services & M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements Primary Care Initiative Team. Training Advisor\'s main responsibilities are in Program Coordination & advisory services, including creating project schedule, deadlines, standards & expectations associated with the program. Other duties include facilitating, marketing, student intake, reporting, administrative support, & organizing job placements. Arranging mentorship opportunities, you work with training institutes to deliver required learning for M\xc3\xa9tis students. Experience consulting with & presenting to various internal & external stakeholders is vital as you will be working together to promote cross-cultural understanding, communications, & connections to proactively identify & address barriers that can impact M\xc3\xa9tis student success. Previous experience coordinating Indigenous skills & employment training programs is ideal. To be successful in this role you will require extensive knowledge of M\xc3\xa9tis history, culture, values, & traditions. Ability to travel extensively through northern Alberta, specifically, to the 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements in Alberta, is required.

Description:

The MMR Training Advisor will coordinate consultation between AHS, 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements, M\xc3\xa9tis Students, Educational Institution/Training Staff, Emergency Medical Services, and M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements Primary Care Initiative Team. They will advise others in AHS about issues, share cultural knowledge, and educate as needed. This position will suggest ways to establish and maintain good working relationships between the 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements, non-Indigenous AHS employees, and Training Staff. In addition, they will work with Rights Holders and Stakeholders to identify and remove barriers to employment for M\xc3\xa9tis job seekers.

Required Qualifications:

Post-Secondary education in a related field (a combination of education and experience will be considered). The skills required for this position could be attained through lived experience, community teachings, employment, education or a combination. Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related role. Previous experience coordinating Indigenous skills and employment training programs is ideal. Knowledge of M\xc3\xa9tis history, culture, values, traditions and protocols. Ability to travel extensively through northern Alberta, specifically, to the 8 M\xc3\xa9tis Settlements in Alberta. Experience consulting with and presenting to various internal and external stakeholders. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to support communication in groups. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work on competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with people from all walks of life. Superior critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. Emotional intelligence to communication effectively. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook. Additional Required Qualifications:

As required. Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to speak or understand Michif. Project Management training. Mediation or conflict management training. Experience with AHS programs and services.
