Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Manager and Clinical Supervisor the Mental Health Therapist requires demonstrated competencies in Community Addiction and Mental Health as it relates to individuals who have come into conflict with the law. It requires collaborative work and a strong knowledge of Justice Services, Community Addiction and Mental Health and effective linking to other community-based services for both mandated and voluntary clients, and includes responsibilities specific to screening, completing comprehensive addiction and mental health assessments, risk assessments, treatment, referral, writing reports and intensive case management. Treatment knowledge and skill set must encompass both addictions and mental health and the ability to exercise a variety of clinical modalities such as CBT, ACT, trauma informed, motivational interviewing, narrative, and solution-focused therapy. Providing clinical expertise and documentation, while adhering to criminal court timelines is essential. The purpose of treatment is to reduce the risk of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) by focusing on repairing harm without creating more harm, while also understanding actions that contributed to the IPV and how those actions may be contrary to a values-based approach toward healthy relationships. The goal is to increase partner, family, and community safety. In combination with Justice and Community Mental Health teams, both locally and provincially, on-going program evaluation, development and implementation are required, while ensuring the reputability of this successful program. This position will support other duties as assigned.Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Training or education specific to the addiction and mental health needs of clients experiencing conflict with the law, including conducting screening, assessment and treatment. Strong knowledge of the Criminal Justice system and the relative associated challenges. Specialized expertise around therapy for those with concurrent disorders. Knowledge of community resources. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently. Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of experience in Mental Health Therapy. Training in Motivational Interviewing and an understanding of harm reduction related to substance use. Strong working knowledge of family and intimate partner violence and relative contributing factors. Understanding of recovery-oriented systems of care.
