Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Area Manager Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services, The outreach mental health therapist for the Rocky Mountain Program will be responsible for providing in-custody and community-based clinical sexual offender assessment and treatment services in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. Primary treatment services will be delivered within the context of a provincial correctional environment to high risk, high needs offenders, and the incumbent may at times also be providing these services in the context of a community forensic mental health clinic to offenders under the spectrum of offending cycles and behaviors. Assessment & Treatment services are provided to individuals convicted of sexual offenses under the criminal code of Canada. This role is responsible for provision of OUTREACH services to a complex and challenging client population, upon release and to facilitate a smooth transition back to the community the Outreach therapist will coordinate and facilitate a successful and stable community reintegration. The purpose of which is to aid in relapse prevention and decrease recidivistic behaviours. The Outreach Mental Health Therapist will as part of the team provide input / participate in facilitation of program development, staff development, service planning, QI, evaluation and/or research activities as identified by the Forensic outpatient service area(s). The treatment may include (clinical assessment, treatment and consultation services) to a target population of individuals presently serving a provincial sentence for sexual offenses from across Alberta/ & or individuals who have a legal mandate to attend for assessment &/or treatment in a community forensic mental health setting.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of masters degree in Psychology; or masters degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or masters or bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or masters degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college Additional Required Qualifications:

Full registration with applicable regulatory body required. 3-5 years prior experience in ana cute or community mental health expected experience providing therapy and psychological interventions essential. Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team experience. Experience providing outreach services\' Required. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing sexual setting required. Offender treatment in an inpatient or community setting preferred. Experience in a forensic mental health setting preferred. Current CPR an asset. BSC Nursing or psychiatric nursing with advanced practice in the assessment and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders conditions and addictions an asset.
