Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Area Manager of FAOS, The Mental Health Therapist acts as primary clinical program addictions specialist for the Rocky Mountain Program providing in custody and community-based, recovery-oriented assessment, treatment, psychotherapy, support, group, follow-up and case management to adults experiencing concurrent mental health and addiction disorders. They will also act as a member of the core clinical Sexual Offender Treatment Team. Treatment is delivered within a provincial correctional environment. Will provide addictions recovery oriented based services for high-risk high needs offenders, and at times may provide these services in the context of a community forensic mental health clinic. Assessment & Treatment services are provided to individuals convicted of sexual offenses under the criminal code of Canada. The position involves provision of clinical services and consultation to the inter-professional team. The MH & Addictions counsellor may also provide input/participate in facilitation of program development, staff development, service planning, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified. Treatment may include but is not limited to court mandated and court requested forensic sexual offender and addictions treatment services to a target population of individuals presently serving a provincial sentence for sexual offenses from across Alberta & or individuals who have a legal mandate to attend for assessment &/or treatment in a community forensic mental health setting. The MHT will work effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and act as a liaison and program ambassador of forensic services. Work is performed with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards. May also be required to complete intake and triaging of referrals, and case management.Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:The combination of education and clinical experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered. Minimum 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute mental health setting supporting individuals with mental health and addiction concerns. Minimum 1 year experience in a community mental health setting, in the last 3-5 years. Current knowledge (within the past 2 years) of Best practice Addictions treatment trends and modalities. Recent experience providing individual therapy, group therapy and psychosocial interventions. Advanced knowledge and specialization in addictions treatment (concurrent disorders). Authorization from the applicable professional college in order to perform psychosocial interventions. Demonstrate solid Interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting. In depth knowledge of mental health/mental illness. Class 5 driver\'s license. Preferred Qualifications:3 years experience working with individuals with concurrent disorders is a desirable asset. Current working knowledge of sexual offender risk assessment tools. Experience in a forensic mental health setting. Experience providing sexual offender treatment in an inpatient or community mental health setting. Experience working with individuals with a forensic history or within a correctional institution. ATSA Certification. Nonviolent crisis intervention.
