Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Area Manager Forensic Assessment & Outpatient Services, the mental health therapist for the Rocky Mountain Program is responsible for providing clinical sexual offender assessment and treatment services in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team. Primary treatment services are delivered in a provincial correctional environment to high risk, high needs offenders, and may at times be provided in the context of a community forensic mental health clinic to offenders under the spectrum of offending cycles and behaviors. Assessment & Treatment services are provided to individuals convicted of sexual offenses under the criminal code of Canada. The position may also involve consultation to the inter-professional team. The MHT will work to facilitate a successful and stable community reintegration, to aid in relapse prevention and decrease recidivistic behaviors. The MHT will, provide input /participate in facilitation of program development, staff development, service planning, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified. The treatment may include, but is not limited to, court mandated, and court requested forensic Sexual offender services (clinical assessment, treatment and consultation services) to a target population of individuals presently serving a provincial sentence for sexual offenses from across Alberta/ & or individuals who have a legal mandate to attend for assessment &/or treatment as part of sentencing in a correctional or community forensic mental health setting. Will work effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and act as a liaison/program ambassador of forensic services. Will perform with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and professional standards. This position may also require completing intake and triaging of referrals, and case management.Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:The combination of education and clinical experience satisfactory to the employer will also be considered. Minimum 3-5 Years prior experience in an acute mental health setting. Minimum 1 year experience in a community mental health setting, in the last 3-5 years. Recent experience providing individual therapy, group therapy and psychosocial interventions. Current active registration in good standing with the applicable college required. Authorization from the applicable professional college in order to perform psychosocial interventions. Demonstrate solid Interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting. In depth knowledge of mental health/mental illness. Class 5 driver\'s license. Preferred Qualifications:Current working knowledge of sexual offender risk assessment tools. Experience in a forensic mental health setting. Experience providing sexual offender treatment in an inpatient or community mental health setting. Experience working with individuals with a forensic history or within a correctional institution. ATSA Certification. Nonviolent crisis intervention.
