Your Opportunity:Reporting directly to the Young Adult Services Care Manager within the Young Adult Services (YAS) portfolio, the Mental Health Therapist (MHT) is a member of the YAS walk in clinic (formerly known as Access Open Minds) that provides drop in, single session therapy services for young people (16-25 years old +/-) and their families who are seeking assistance with substance use and/or mental health concerns. The MHT is responsible for bringing a holistic approach to comprehensive assessment, intervention, and evaluation of client care that maintains the uniqueness of each client within a recovery-oriented, collaborative service delivery model. Essential to the skill-set of the incumbent will be: an understanding of the impact of mental illness and substance use on the young adult population, a welcoming and engaging approach, single session solution focused psychotherapy skills, group facilitation techniques and experience, clinical assessment, and a thorough understanding and implementation of recovery oriented care. Practice and knowledge of concurrent care is an expectation. Interventions will be based on the client\'s presentation and personally defined goals and may require urgent responses, screening and connections to alternate service options, or short term psychotherapy. The MHT will be responsible for direct client care in collaboration with the clients natural and professional supports and will work with the client towards facilitating independence and self-management skills. The MHT will be actively engaged in innovative, evidence informed practice. This position will be part of the Kickstand Integrated Youth Hub located at West Edmonton Mall which will be an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other community based programs!Description:As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Current BCLS-HCP. A minimum of 3 years addiction and mental health experience preferably with strong skillset working with young people with mental health and substance use concerns in community settings through a solution focused, single session model. Acquired advanced levels of knowledge and skill in the intake, assessment, crisis intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation of persons with addiction and mental health concerns. Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community stakeholders and caregivers. Preferred Qualifications:Considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy.
