Your Opportunity:

This Addiction and Mental Health (MHT) position reports to the Care Manager of the Children, Youth and Families, Addiction and Mental Health (CYF AMH), Learning and Development (L&D) clinic. The MHT works collaboratively with L&D physicians, treatment team, school personnel, and other care providers to provide services to children and youth (and their families) with neurodevelopmental concerns. The MHT provides mental health consultation, ongoing assessment, treatment, case coordination, and crisis intervention to children and youth with neurodevelopmental concerns who are experiencing psychological, emotional, social, behavioural difficulties, and/or substance misuse. This position may also facilitate groups and/or Walk-In sessions within the CYF AMH portfolio. Services are provided using a strength-based, goal-focused, trauma-informed, culturally safe, and family-centered care approach. The MHT needs the knowledge, skills, and abilities to work effectively independently, as well as within a multidisciplinary team.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Psychology; or master\'s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master\'s or bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master\'s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing with considerable experience in mental health assessment and intervention. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered. Registration in a professional regulatory body as defined by the Health Professions Act (CRNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW). Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. Direct clinical experience working with children, youth (and their families) with neurodevelopmental concerns, preferably in a community mental health setting. Formal training in a therapeutic modality of intervention, which may include, but is not limited to, Solution focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, etc. Proficiency with using computers, including MS Office Suite. Experience in Suicide Risk Management (assessment and intervention). Current CPR certification. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Excellent interpersonal skills and well developed written and verbal skills. Preferred Qualifications:

Connect Care experience is preferred. Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and designation as a Clinical Social Worker is preferred.
