Your Opportunity:

Community Assertive Services (CAS) is a client-centered, recovery-oriented program that supports community living, psychosocial rehabilitation and intervention for children, youth and their families who have serious mental illnesses, have severe symptoms and impairments and have not benefited from traditional outpatient programs. This home/community-based treatment program follows a flexible Assertive Community Treatment model of intervention. The Mental Health Therapist will provide mental health assessment, treatment, care coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children/youth experiencing psychological, emotional, and social and/or behavioural difficulties for psychiatrically complex, high-risk children and families. The program goal is to stabilize children and families in crisis for a brief period in order to reduce the number of Emergency Department presentations and length of stay in hospital. You should know Assertive Community Treatment, Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Harm Reduction, and Crisis intervention. It would be helpful to have foundational knowledge in EMDR and other Trauma Based therapeutic modalities. You will work as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team to provide linkages to community A+MH services and collaborate with physicians, parent(s) or guardians and a broad range of community professionals and services. Additionally, you will provide mental health interventions as the treatment plan indicates and collaborate with Child and Family Services and EPS staff to plan appropriate community follow-up and support the Mental Health Crisis Team and Stollery ED when required.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of masters degree in Psychology; or masters degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or masters or bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or masters degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college Additional Required Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have strong organization skills and thrive on being self-directed in your work. You will demonstrate a high degree of independence and have adept communication and assessment skills. You will be comfortable navigating the complexities of working across different systems and working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and families. This will include building relationships and trust in non-traditional ways and identifying alternate solutions to provide support. A minimum of three (3) years clinical child and adolescent mental health experience within the last five (5) years. Previous experience with the assessment and treatment of children/adolescents with complex mental health concerns/diagnoses. Previous formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health. Previous experience with crisis management. Master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work (clinical specialization) who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization with considerable experience in mental health assessment & provision of psychotherapy. Master\'s degree in Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Registration with Appropriate Regulatory College under the HPA. CPR, NVCI training. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with Trauma. Previous experience working with Child and Family Services, EPS and/or Multicultural groups, such as community, friendship, or settlement services. Experience with child and adolescent mental health therapeutic interventions such as various group, family therapy, DBT, CBT, EMDR and Solution-Focused Therapy.
