Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a community-based walk-in/Urgent Mental Health program in the communities of Canmore and Banff, Alberta. Under the direction of the Addiction and Mental Health Manager and as a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health Clinician is responsible for providing specialized single-session and consultation services in the context of patients presenting by walk-in or Emergency Department referral in relation to mental health issues at the Banff Mineral Springs and Canmore General hospitals. This position is clinical in nature. Clinicians are responsible for providing support via a single-session walk in model, conducting risk assessments, therapeutic interventions, and referrals. Clinically focused liaison and consultation to colleagues and with community service providers is also required. Clinicians are required to have awareness and sensitivity to working with diverse populations. Clinicians must also be able to provide service to the hard to serve population who suffer from severe mental illness and face multiple problems in the community, including homelessness, social isolation, marginalization, and often encounter significant barriers to accessing mental health and medical services. Good risk assessment and clinical documentation skills, as well as interpersonal skills, flexibility, and an ability to work independently are essential. A good working knowledge of community agencies and programs is an asset. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you will transition to Recovery Alberta.Description:As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs: a Master\'s degree in Psychology, a Bachelor\'s degree in Social Work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention, a Master\'s or Bachelor\'s degree in Occupational Therapy with similar educational components, a Bachelor\'s degree in Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling, or a Bachelor\'s degree in Psychiatric Nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to clinical disorders and psychosocial and environmental problems. Experience providing mental health support utilizing a single-session model. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. Strong mental health assessment, crisis management, and counseling skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and high level of interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications:Ability to set priorities and organize time effectively. Ability to work in stressful, demanding, and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
