We are seeking a dynamic, relationship-driven Membership & Advocacy Manager to join our team. This is a key leadership role that will directly shape how our members experience the Association while also supporting our advocacy efforts.

Position Overview



The Membership & Advocacy Manager is responsible for driving member recruitment, retention, and engagement while also supporting the Association's advocacy and stakeholder relations work. Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO and as the primary liaison with members, this role blends relationship management, strategy, and organizational leadership.

Key Responsibilities



Membership Growth & Engagement

Develop and execute annual membership recruitment and retention strategies with clear goals and reporting. Lead active and passive recruitment through permit reports, referrals, social media, community engagement, and industry connections. Conduct prospect identification, screening, and evaluation to ensure new members align with SRHBA's values and standards. Manage the full member lifecycle: onboarding, probation check-ins, engagement support, and offboarding/exit interviews. Ensure ongoing member compliance with SRHBA's Code of Ethics, including monitoring, education, and follow-up where required. Coordinate and deliver member networking and engagement events that strengthen relationships and promote member value. Plan and execute member meetings (e.g., Builder, Renovator, Developer meetings), ensuring meaningful engagement and follow-up. Support member engagement in SRHBA's major projects and events (HomeStyles, Parade of Homes, Housing Excellence Awards, Builders' Classic Golf Tournament), working closely with the Events Manager. Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager to highlight and promote members through communications, campaigns, and public platforms. Oversee and maintain member data in SRHBA's CRM (GrowthZone), website, and newsletters. Prepare monthly membership reports for the CEO, Board, and national office. Deliver and promote educational and certification programs for members. Build and nurture strong, lasting relationships with members to maximize engagement and satisfaction.
Advocacy & Stakeholder Support

Support the CEO in advancing SRHBA's advocacy initiatives. Contribute to policy development, advocacy campaigns, submissions, and briefing materials. Coordinate member engagement meetings and working groups (e.g., Builder Meetings, Saskatoon Land). Represent SRHBA at external meetings, industry events, and stakeholder engagements.
Complaints Management

Serve as the first point of contact for public complaints under SRHBA's complaint process. Facilitate fair and professional resolution in alignment with Association procedures. Maintain clear documentation and coordinate next steps with the CEO and relevant committees.
Organizational Strategy & Leadership

Support strategic planning, board relations, and operational alignment. Lead or co-lead research projects that inform advocacy, membership, or industry insights. Collaborate with staff to align membership and advocacy efforts with communications, events, and operations.
Other Duties as Assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements



Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimum 5 years of professional experience in membership management, advocacy, stakeholder relations, or association management. Demonstrated success in recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies. Experience preparing reports, budgets, and presenting to leadership or boards.
Skills & Attributes:

Strong relationship-building skills; able to connect with a wide range of stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of organization with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strategic thinker with the ability to translate ideas into measurable results. Professional judgment, diplomacy, and discretion when managing sensitive issues.
Not required, but would be beneficial:

Previous experience working in a not-for-profit association. Knowledge of or experience within the residential construction or housing industry. Familiarity with advocacy, government relations, or policy development. Experience using association management software (e.g., GrowthZone or similar CRM tools).

Compensation & Benefits



This position offers an annual salary of $70,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
