Job Description

Established in 1993, Peel-Halton-Dufferin Adult Learning Network (PHDALN) is a non-profit organization that coordinates adult literacy services among 11 service providers throughout our catchment area. We broker community partnerships, conduct outreach and other awareness raising activities to potential learners and referral partners, advocate to increase the profile of adult literacy among business and government, and develop tools and resources that increase effectiveness and efficiency of service providers. We help ensure that adult learners in Peel, Halton and Dufferin have access to outcome-based programs tailored to fit their needs, taught by qualified practitioners in caring and inclusive learning environments. We currently seek a Member Relations & Communications Specialist to join our team. This role is primarily a work from home opportunity for candidates living in the Peel, Halton, Dufferin area. The Member Relations & Communications Specialist works closely with our Executive Director to ensure solid marketing and communications strategies are developed and executed for our network partners. Main Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, and implement content for our company website, e-newsletter, social media, and other related information sources.
  • Plan, develop and implement other marketing materials as required (slide decks, flyers, etc.); assist Executive Director in developing marketing strategies and plans.
  • Contribute to business development planning and activities, including proposal development.
  • Outreach and relationship building with community stakeholders such as Ontario Works, Employment Ontario, referral partner agencies, and other similar service providers.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Marketing and Communication Committee (with representatives from member agencies).
  • Manage small projects or assist with other organizational projects/activities.
  • Other related duties as required.
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum 3 years successful work experience in a corporate marketing and communications role with focus on customer service is required.
  • Minimum college level diploma in a related discipline, or similar in work experience and/or education required.
  • Previous work experience in creating and implementing marketing materials for websites and other social media applications required.
  • Previous experience managing work related social media messaging on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. required.
  • Previous work experience in a not-for-profit work environment preferred.
  • Strong computer skills required, including working knowledge of typical Microsoft applications such as WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience utilizing graphic design software, and comfort with exploring and learning new systems required.
  • Clear and inspiring writing skills required.
  • Excellent overall communication skills required, including presenting impactful public speaking engagements.
  • Strong command of the English language (written and spoken) required.
  • Have a \xe2\x80\x98can do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude and willing to work hard to leave network partners with a positive experience.
