ROYAL VICTORIA YACHT CLUB (RVYC) POSITION TITLE: Member Relations and Communications Coordinator The ROYAL VICTORIA YACHT CLUB (RVYC) requires a Member Relations & Communications Coordinator to work in an exciting and vibrant environment. The RVYC has over 1000 members who are passionate about yachting, keen volunteers and love their Club. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Member Relations & Communications Coordinator is responsible for new member processing and special events. This includes working closely with the Club Administrator and other staff, Chairs of volunteer Program Committees, and members. The position plays a significant role in producing and creating communications products, such as a weekly newsletter (The Jibsheet), social media, event posters and keeping information current on the Club\xe2\x80\x99s website. The work environment requires flexibility, self-motivation, and meeting tight deadlines. Must be self motivated and have the ability to multi-task. Member Relations \xc2\xb7 Provide a welcoming environment for new and potential new members by welcoming, providing tours, describing benefits of membership, and following up to ensure new members are oriented and welcomed in the Club; o Maintain RVYC\xe2\x80\x98s public social media presence such as the RVYC Facebook page and Instagram ; o Prepare and distribute media releases as requested by the General Manager o Respond to Member inquires; \xc2\xb7 Provide support to the Food & Beverage Manager by informing and promoting menus and services; \xc2\xb7 Work collaboratively with the Entertainment Committee composed of member volunteers to develop and run Special Events for members. Communications

  • Create and maintain new member guide;
  • Help create and maintain the RVYC HR Manual;
  • Develop content with input from Program Committee Chairs, and distribute communications to members including the weekly Jibsheet, Club Annual, handbooks, brochures, website, and other electronic and non-electronic materials;
\xc2\xb7 Collect electronic copies of photographs from members representing the Club\xe2\x80\x99s wide range of events and activities, reviewing for quality, and supporting the Communications Committee in choosing those that tell member stories for the weekly Jibsheet and the Club Annual;
  • Design and produce/arrange for commercial production of posters, banners, and other forms of promotional materials;
  • Provide other graphic design as required.
Office Administration \xc2\xb7 Provide administrative support where required, including, answering the phones, making dining reservation on Opentable. Providing backup to the Club Administrator during peak workloads, vacation coverage, sick relief, and for special projects. Merchandise Take ownership of the Club merchandise, Gift Shop, including ordering, inventory and maintaining stock. Selling items from the Gift Shop. QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training \xc2\xb7 Communications, business development and marketing training is an asset; \xc2\xb7 Training in office administration is required; \xc2\xb7 Computer literacy is a must including programs such as MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Publisher and MailChimp; \xc2\xb7 Training in use of the Jonas system is highly desired but not mandatory. Abilities, Skills, and Personal Suitability \xc2\xb7 Professional in appearance and manner; \xc2\xb7 Takes initiative and is highly motivated; Enjoys working collaboratively with others; \xc2\xb7 Able to work under pressure and within deadlines; \xc2\xb7 Strong command of English communication (written and verbal); \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail and accuracy; \xc2\xb7 Takes pride in their work. WAGE We are able to offer $26 per hour with a benefits package. Prefer you work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. Must be able to work the occasional evening or weekends as required for events.
