JOB OVERVIEW



The Community Engagement and Services Director manages the Alpine Club of Canada's Services portfolio. They are responsible for engaging and communicating with the club's 15,000 members and 25 local volunteer chapters across Canada, with the support of two full-time staff members and one contractor. They also lead several volunteer committees, manage partnerships and community events, and regular day-to-day operations of member services.



Working closely with the Executive Director, they contribute to the development of the club's strategic plan, create multi-year plans, annual goals and budgets for their portfolio, monitor monthly performance and take initiatives to ensure the department's goals are met. They collaborate closely with the other key departments of Communications and Marketing, Programs, and Facilities.



The Community Engagement and Services Director demonstrates charismatic and inspiring leadership skills, is a strong communicator, a strategic thinker, and a community builder. They are familiar for non-profit governance and the dynamics of a member-based organization. They communicate in both French and English, have strong interpersonal skills, and collaborate successfully across departments and with other organizations.





RESPONSIBILITIES



Overall strategic planning and future of the Alpine Club of Canada


Provide leadership of the Services portfolio that is thoughtful and supports the team in working towards the ACC's Strategic Goals. Portfolio financials (forecasting, budgeting, monitoring). Grow relationships with and between ACC local chapters, board of directors, staff and external partners. Support Membership Coordinator with day-to-day tasks and membership goals Work with Communications & Marketing department on membership communications and messaging Monitor control measures (membership dashboard) for metrics such as member retention and over membership numbers. Support the Services Coordinator with day-to-day tasks and larger projects and meeting goals to support local chapters. Oversee and set theme/direction of bi-annual forums Office support for various volunteer committees. Support partnerships with Girls on Ice Canada and Mountain Muskox Mentorship Support Ice Climbing Canada Committee. Organize and manage the ACC's annual community event "The Summit Shaker"




SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


Experience:

Experience with a member-based organization and/or not for profit governance

Education:

Business Degree with focus on communications, community engagement, relationship building or degree in related field

Language:

Ability to speak and write in French and English

: Ability to track progress against strategic goals, evaluate outcomes, and adjust approaches based on results.
