We are seeking a responsible individual with a high level of compassion and integrity to fulfill receptionist duties and provide administrative support for a bustling ophthalmology practice and its professional staff in Charlottetown, PE. This position requires a professional medical secretary that is personable and adapts well to a variety of situations while working in a fast-paced, busy environment. The ideal candidate must have excellent time management skills, and a sharp ability to prioritize workflow. Duties: - acting as initial contact person for patients and general inquiries by telephone, email, and in person; - scheduling appointments; - receiving and screening telephone calls and digital communication, responding to and/or redirecting inquiries, relaying messages, and prioritizing messages; - receiving, screening, and prioritizing incoming mail; - typing letters, notes, and emails, as well as general correspondence - all of which involve medical terminology; - creating invoices and receiving payments; - maintaining an electronic filing system using Accuro EMR; - liaising with other healthcare professionals, hospitals, and private organizations to organize continuing patient care; - maintaining confidentiality, privacy, and using discretion at all times; - and other duties as required. Qualifications: - successful completion of Grade 12; - excellent computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and Google drive; - ability to work independently and as a team with other administrative staff and technicians; - excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to provide high-quality patient care; - clear and concise verbal and written communication skills in English with fluency in additional languages an asset; - professional working knowledge of standard office equipment; - and have a good previous work history and attendance record.
