Job Description


Great opportunity to join an established gastroenterology clinic in downtown Kamloops in a well-equipped medical clinic with two other gastroenterologists, so you would work with other MOAs in the same medical specialty. Working with a single gastroenterologist, however with assistance from other MOAs as needed. Once shortlisted - Videoconference interview or in-person will be conducted. Looking to start as soon as possible to fill an opening. The nature of work is varied and moderate in complexity. Therefore, multitasking, organizational skills, and attention to detail are very important. The successful candidate will also possess strong oral and written communication skills. Typical Duties / Accountabilities:

  • General reception duties
  • Interacting with other staff and secretaries
  • Book patient appointments and confirm appointments
  • Updating demographic information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Scanning (electronic filing) of incoming mail and faxes to the EMR
  • Complete tasks assigned by physician related to booking and rebooking patients, patient laboratory, imaging, and visit reminders
  • Provide patients with preparatory education, test requisition for upcoming appointments
  • File patient records and related documents (paper and electronic)
  • Respond to enquiries from patients and clinic staff
  • Communicate with technical support for EMR
  • Review and revise physician procedure list, appointments, and schedule
  • Ensure all aspects of office is compliant with the Health Information Act (HIA)
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Office Education certificate & Basic Medical Terminology certificate or
  • Medical Administrative Assistant Certificate
  • Twelve (12) months previous experience working in a medical office environment is an asset but not required
  • Candidates are required to be legally entitled to work in Canada to apply to this position.
Experience: Experience working with an electronic medical record (preferably Accuro) and knowledge of medical terminology would be definite assets. Training will be provided upon starting work. Skills: Clear and effective communication (oral and written English language), organizational and time management and people skills; the ability to apply discretion with confidential information. A good working knowledge of word processing with proficient keyboarding skills and attention to detail. Familiarity with computer systems and a very good working knowledge of an electronic medical record. Salary: The starting salary will be $22-25/hr paid biweekly, with paid 2 weeks vacation to start (vacation pay of 4% per paycheck).
