Pinnacle Medical Centres is seeking an experienced and versatile
Casual Medical Office Assistant (MOA)
to join our expanding team at our brand-new clinic in
Harmony, Rocky View County
. The successful candidate will perform both front desk and clinical support duties. We're looking for someone with
strong EMR experience (Med Access preferred)
, and a passion for providing efficient and compassionate patient care.
This role involves direct patient interaction, coordination of clinical flow, administrative functions, and supporting physicians both in the exam room and behind the scenes. Flexibility to work across multiple Pinnacle locations in NW Calgary is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients in-person and via phone in a courteous and professional manner
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments according to physician preferences
Make reminder calls and manage cancellations or no-shows using EMR (Med Access)
Update patient demographics, insurance information, and medical history in the EMR
Collect payments for uninsured services and issue receipts
Manage and maintain a tidy, welcoming front desk and waiting room area
Assist in training new staff as required
Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare charts, and ensure readiness for physician visits
Record patient vital signs (BP, height, weight, waist, head circumference) in EMR
Perform urine dip testing and other basic in-clinic specimen collections
Assist with booking referrals, diagnostic testing, and surgical consults
Communicate physician instructions and follow-up care details to patients
Help maintain exam rooms - clean, stock supplies, and set up for procedures
Scan, link, and organize incoming medical records and lab reports in EMR
Participate in inventory control and ordering (Staples, Grand & Toy, Culligan, etc.)
Qualifications:
Medical Office Assistant Certificate or equivalent healthcare administration training
Minimum 2 years experience in a clinic setting preferred
Proficient in EMR systems (Med Access experience highly preferred)
Strong communication and organizational skills
Above-average computer literacy (Microsoft Office, email, scanning, database navigation)
Ability to work independently, multitask, and adapt to a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to patient-centered care
Additional Assets:
Experience assisting physicians with minor procedures or technical tasks
Familiarity with Alberta Health protocols and billing practices
Confidence in managing confidential records and adhering to privacy standards
Positive team player attitude with initiative and problem-solving ability
