Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site.ROLEAs a Laboratory Technician, you are a vital member of the Laboratory Department performing duties such as:Receive, identify, separate, record and distribute biological specimens for in house analysis or to a reference laboratory.Perform venipuncture, capillary collection and ECG\xe2\x80\x99s on in and outpatients; Holter monitoring installation at the Almaguin Highlands Health Centre.Separate, file, sort and distribute laboratory reports.Maintain a clean and safe work environment.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.Must be able to plan and organize workflow.Documentation of procedures for statistical and billing purposes of the Laboratory.Must be able to work independently and meet the physical demands required for venipuncture collection and ECG tracing (back mobility and reaching).Performs testing procedures as required in other areas in the Laboratory such as Microbiology and PathologyREQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant ProgramCurrent Lab Assistant Certification with either the Medical Laboratory Professional\xe2\x80\x99s Association of Ontario (MLPAO) or the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe; or a regulated health professional with current registration, whose professional scope of practice includes blood collection and ECG performance (Example RN, RPN, MLT, Respiratory therapist)REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)Laboratory training will occur on sitePrevious working knowledge and experience in a computerized hospital laboratory in an acute care setting performing ECG, inpatient and outpatient blood collection and specimen reception.Computer knowledge and usage.
