Medical Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist
for Part-Time work.
Training Schedule
During training period (typically 4-6 weeks) scheduling will include primarily Saturdays 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with some additional training being available remote.
Schedule:
Can be discussed for possibilities to adjust, however general schedule requirements will be:
Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm
Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Job Responsibilities
The primary job of the
Medical Lab Assistant / Phlebotomist
is to assist Doctors with the preparation of patients for IV treatments, subcutaneous and IM injections, and all other procedures that are required by ordering doctor.
Prepare injections and IVs for patients for the day.
Insertion and removal of butterfly needles with IV infusion sets, injection of subcutaneous and intramuscular medications
Specimen collection, processing and shipping
Preparing supplies
Ensure the patients are comfortable during treatments
Prep each room before and in between patients to ensure cleanliness
Ensure ongoing cleaning/wiping of counters, cupboards, chairs, and any other areas at all times
Accurately update patient chart notes and upkeep any changes
Record and schedule patients visits as well as book lab review follow-up
Professionally assist doctors, staff, visitors and patients.
Maintain business inventory such as checking supplies
Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff and patient information.
Follow up with patients to coordinate sample collection
Qualifications / Skills
Works well as a part of the team
Strong organizational, administrative and planning skills.
Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to multitask.
Inventory control and supply management
Ability to work under pressure and react effectively to emergency situations.
Comfortable with using computer for use of accessing electronic medical records
Proficient with EMR software, email, Word & Excel
Knowledge of Naturopathic Medicine
Quick to learn new skills
Comfortable with hands on learning
Education & Experience Requirements
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Medical Laboratory assistant diploma or 2 years work experience as Medical Laboratory Assistant with medical/ healthcare background
CPR certification
