Alpha Healthcare is looking for a talented Medical Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our terrific team. The posting is for Welland/ Niagara area

Key Responsibilities:



Meet the needs of our Patient-consumers Provide compassionate, convenient and caring service at all times Use your high level phlebotomy skills to collect blood samples from a variety of patients, including in their homes as needed Collect other specimens from patients Perform ECGs and Holter hook ups Enroll patients in patient support programs as applicable Customer service for the best possible patient experiences Provide attention to detail and quality at all times Ensure all samples are properly labeled, identified, and meet acceptance criteria before testing Verify completeness and accuracy of OHIP documentation and associated paperwork Register patient information into the Laboratory Information System Perform non-interpretive test procedures under the supervision of qualified technologists Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and perform routine equipment maintenance under technologist supervision and department guidelines Ensure samples are processed in a timely manner as per department protocols Maintain all equipment to the proper standard Handle stat, verbal and special instructions as required in a timely manner Ensure confidential information is protected in a secure manner at all times Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing Accession, spin, separate and prepare for transport to reference lab as required

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:



Commitment to quality and excellence in patient care A graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent with atleast 2 years of experience in Phlebotomy OSMT certification Experience working in a medical laboratory, an asset Experience working in a community setting, an asset Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills Demonstrated skills in phlebotomy with ability to manage anxious patients during the sample collection process Proficiency in both written and verbal English to enables clear communication of instructions to patients and attention Ability to work independently and in a team environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Intermediate to advanced level computer skills Ability to multi-task Meticulous attention to detail Valid driver's license and vehicle
