Our Position

Reporting to the Director of Medical Strategy and Innovation, the Medical Excellence Lead for Oncology (OMEX Lead) will be responsible for developing, coordinating and driving in Canada. You will participate in the development and management of innovative medical projects & tools, in collaboration with the Medical Excellence Lead for scientific Affairs (MedEx Lead) and Medical Digital and Innovation Lead (MDIL), including new technology when aligned with OMA goals and continuous evolution of medical affairs leadership at AstraZeneca Canada.

The scope of this position will include:

Lead Oncology Medical Capability Plan for market

Define, in coordination with OMA Leadership, knowledge and skills to be acquired to accelerate the quality of scientific interactions, achieve strong performance, and be recognised as credible players in the scientific community.

Build and own a core capability plan to support the skills required for increasing medical affairs leadership, scope to progress to head office as well as field roles, aligning channels of communication.

Drive the capability development plan through development and facilitation of sessions and engagement of external experts where necessary.

Support the medical teams in TA-agnostic initiatives, including leading the implementation of new methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of medical affairs, ex. onboarding tactics and sustainability plan for medical affairs; owning learning journeys.

Lead optimization of digital learning platforms specific to OMA, working with local and global partners to build digital learning pathways and adaptive learning initiatives to enhance capability development and sustainment.

Implement project work plans and recommend revisions as appropriate to meet changing development needs within the team in line with the MSI and OMA priorities.

Liaise with the Global Oncology Medical Excellence Team, attending meetings regularly, bringing relevant global initiatives to local market as aligned with local strategy and compliance, and seek out opportunity for cross-market collaboration.

Accountable for the Oncology MSL Excellence plan in the country

Co-ordinate and lead meetings as necessary for execution.

Lead OMA Insights and Metrics Management Plan for market

Lead development of an aligned insight management plan for OMA, activating new digital tools where applicable.

In close collaboration with MedEx Lead, build insight gathering and analysis capability for medical affairs at AZC, scoping beyond just field medical and advancing digital initiatives.

Supervision of all medical effectiveness and monitoring activity for Oncology, including building a 360 \xc2\xb0 vision of our interactions both at institution and healthcare professional levels.

Own Oncology field medical metrics reporting for market, running quarterly effectiveness dashboard (FMED) reports for Oncology MSLs and coordinating impact measures across Tumor Areas.

Own Communication Plan for OMA IMPACT measures, elevating medical affairs contributions to overall organizational objectives.

Enable Medical Process Improvement and Alignment across AstraZeneca Canada

Working closely with MedEx Lead, MDIL, and cross-functional teams:

Build sustainable one AZC strategies for execution of coordinated tactics for increasing AZ medical affairs leadership in market.

integrate new medical systems and tools to support digital opportunity to enhance medical scientific strategy and engagements.

Analyse changes in the pharmaceutical environment in the mid-long term and assess impact on local organization elevating the role of medical in the greater enterprise.

Identify and create new opportunities for proactive collaboration and communication between therapy areas and other parts of the organisation to improve practice and build new ways of working.

Actively work in support of continuous improvement and simplification initiatives, adapting processes as compliance parameters evolve and leading sustainability plan for current prioritized capabilities.

Support evolution of field medical role towards partnership in bettering patient outcomes.

Ensure the frameworks, projects, training, and communications follow relevant standard operating procedures including those in area of pharmacovigilance, data privacy, information security etc.

Align medical operational, executional excellence and capability enablement opportunity across AZC.

Qualifications

Advanced Scientific Degree

Proven experience within the pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs roles, Medial Advisor or Field Manager experience is an asset

Experience in Oncology is a requirement

Deep understanding of the Field Medical role and contribution to the larger organization

Knowledge of the Canadian healthcare environment as well as local regulatory requirements related to medical affairs activities

Experience in product launch preparation and execution

Experience with digital or adaptive learning platforms considered an asset

Strong team-player with ability to build partnerships and work well within diverse teams

Proven experience leading changes within an organization

Strong leadership capability with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary working groups and cross functional teams

Strong communication, presentation skills; proficiency in written and spoken English; French would be considered and asset

Able to tactfully influence, persuade and achieve results while promoting the creation of effective and positive relationships in the business
