Medical Digital Advisor, Oncology

The Medical Digital Advisor has all of the capabilities of a Medical Scientific Advisor but brings additional value to the TA team by being an expert in digital and omni-channel engagement opportunities and content. He/she will be the lead for the omnichannel strategy across the Oncology team and the principal Medical Oncology team touch point for internal cross functional team members as well as the principle contact for external stakeholders including Digital Thought leaders. The Medical Digital Advisor works closely with external stakeholders, the Oncology Medical Advisors and MSLs to design and execute the Oncology Digital/ Omni-channel medical strategy.

What you will do:

Strategic contribution:

  • Responsible and accountable for building and implementing a local MA Digital Engagement/ Omni-channel plan aligned to the global and local medical and brand strategy and in partnership with the MA Oncology Team and cross functional partners. This plan includes a digital thought leader engagement plan.
Data planning, collection, analysis and interpretation:
  • Responsible and accountable for reviewing and interpreting MA data analytics and relevant field insights to drive data driven decisions and optimize MA digital engagement opportunities and MA digital content to add more value to HCP audience.
Digital Content:
  • In partnership with Global Oncology TA, local Medical Advisors, digital thought leaders and agencies, this role is the point person for development, implementation, evaluation and accessibility of relevant Digital content surrounding Oncology MA. This content will be included in Scientific Journeys and other digital educational activities
Internal Partnership
  • This role works as the MA Oncology Team expert in digital HCP engagement. It is important for the Medical Digital Advisor to be aware of the digital engagement landscape in Canada and share this expertise with his/her Oncology MA colleagues. He/she will also need to partner closely with pharma operations, MA analytic specialist, and other MA digital roles including the head of MA Digital Strategy and Engagement.
  • The Digital Medical Advisor will also play a key role in increasing digital and omnichannel acumen across Canadian Medical affairs and occasionally be called upon to be an ambassador for Canadian MA globally.
External Partnership
  • This role will be the key contact for Canadian HCPs interested in leveraging Digital and social media to educate their peers. This role will consult with Canadian Digital Thought Leaders (DTLs) to inform Bayer's digital strategy and support the development of more relevant accessible content. This role will build and maintain relationships with key DTLs through ongoing scientific exchange and for the development and dissemination of scientific content through digital channels, including social media and online medical education platforms.
  • Collaborate with PAGs and academic organizations as it relates to supporting digital content resources.
MA Oncology Team
  • As a member of the local Oncology MA TA team, the Digital Medical Advisor may be required to use their TA expertise to participate in and assist their team with various activities, including non-digital content creation and support of medical advisor and MSL national tactics. The Digital Medical Advisor may support the medical scientific advisors across oncology for providing scientific education and training to cross-functional partners (e.g. Sales and Marketing) on product data, therapeutic area knowledge. Support the medical scientific advisors across oncology for scientifically reviewing and approving therapeutic area/product related materials, external communications and advising cross-functionally using medical/scientific expertise
  • As a Bayer Medical employee, this role is responsible and accountable for proactively ensuring that Bayer medical activities are in-line with relevant guidelines, regulations and legislations.
Who you are:
  • Strong scientific/ medical background.
  • Qualified Physician / Pharmacist/ advanced degree in life science.
  • 3-5 years of previous experience as a Medical Scientific Liaison or Medical/Scientific Advisor in pharmaceutical industry, with strong knowledge of Canadian compliance and regulations
  • Strong skills in managing stakeholders and experienced in building networks
  • Inquisitive experimental mindset, challenges status quo, solution-oriented, proactive in approach
  • Demonstrated examples of learning agility, creativity, managing complexity and working with ambiguity
  • Experience in omni-channel medical engagement - preferred
  • Experience interpreting engagement analytics - preferred
  • Previous experience and deep knowledge of Oncology - preferred
  • Business Acumen displaying ability to operate cross-functionally,
  • driving organizational growth, understanding of marketing/sales and medical
  • functions in pharmaceutical industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
