Medical Scientific Advisor, Precision Oncology

A cross-functional partner who proactively provides medical, scientific, strategic input, and functional expertise to internal colleagues, and the therapeutic area (TA) head at the brand level.

What you will do:

  • Work with the brand team to define, create and implement strategic brand plans: provide medical and scientific input and guidance into brand planning; participate in the development of key messages, labeling, reviewing promotional and information materials, advisory boards, slide kits, etc. Work with brand teams to develop and execute on a brand/TA publication strategy. Attend regular brand team meetings
  • Dialog with brand managers, TA Head, MSLs, and Commercial Functions to develop annual Medical and Thought Leaders (TL) plans at the brand level. Maintain connections with 10-20 Tier 1 TLs
  • Act as a medical/scientific resource internally and to TLs on new and changing trends in Oncology, focused on targeted therapies including diagnostic testing.
  • Review scientific publications and proactively bring ideas, insights and opportunities to the brand teams.
  • Support the Regulatory Affairs team in Health Canada communications and in developing the medical/scientific content of regulatory documents (e.g. Product Monographs).
  • Partner with head office market access group for market access-related initiatives.
  • Develop, review, and deliver Oncology / product training for head office and field staff, supported by MSLs, as needed
  • Regularly assess Oncology pipeline assets and Canadian biomarker landscape
  • Support site management in determining appropriate sites for clinical trials
  • Attend/present at relevant conferences, symposia, ad boards
  • Gather and filter field intelligence / competitor information and provide strategic input into brand planning
  • Review and provide medical input on Investigator Initiated Research
  • Maintain regular contact with regional and global medical colleagues
Who you are:
  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or MSc (or other advanced or specialized degree in life sciences)
  • Ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams and influence appropriate plans and actions
  • Business acumen and understanding of business strategy
  • Scientific/medical expertise; detailed knowledge and understanding of oncology and molecular biology / genetics is an asset
  • 5 years of industry experience is preferable
  • Be a strong change agent
