The Media Production Specialist is simultaneously a videographer, a video editor, an audio professional, a professional photographer and photo editor, a 360 VR photography/video specialist, an aerial drone operator, motion graphics specialist, cloud-based media manager, and emerging media enthusiast all rolled into one extraordinary position. This position is involved at an enterprise level to help Saskatchewan Polytechnic achieve its Strategic, Academic and TEL plans. The position reports to the Team Lead - Media Production Specialist, who in turn reports to the Manager of Classroom and Video Technologies in Learning Technologies, under the Director of Learning Technologies, part of the overall Learning & Teaching division of Saskatchewan Polytechnic, under the AVP of Learning & Teaching. This position works on multiple projects with competing timelines requiring excellent time management skills.



The Media Production Specialist position has two fundamental areas of impact at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Firstly, it is directly responsible for the production of professional quality, engaging, and pedagogically effective digital media for all Saskatchewan Polytechnic course programs that directly impact student learning on a daily basis both in person, hybrid and online. Secondly, and just as importantly, the position provides a vast array of key executive, corporate and internal and external Communications & Marketing promotional media productions that reach a worldwide audience online and through social media. The position works as a visual media expert within a team of education, communication, and technology professionals spearheading projects from initial concept to the delivery of the final product.


QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

Specific Accountabilities


Specific accountabilities of the Media Production Specialist include:



Video Production: + Taking professional video projects from concept to production, post-production, and final delivery.
Professional Photography: + Conducting full-frame professional photography using mirrorless/DSLR cameras.
Post-Production/Editing: + Editing videos, audios, and photographs using professional post-production software.
Audio Recording: + Producing various types of audio projects, including podcasting, audio recording for videos, Foley recording, field recording, studio booth recording, re-recording, and narration.
Delivery and Secure Digital Storage: + Delivering final products to internal and external clients through online cloud-based platforms.
Research/Professional Development: + Continuously researching the latest production and post-production methods and technologies.
Project Management: + Managing projects from preproduction to post-production.
Creativity: + Applying creativity in developing engaging content for student learning and innovative content for Communications and Marketing.
Collaboration: + Collaborating with members of various programs and departments at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
Attention to Detail: + Ensuring strong organization and attention to detail throughout all media projects.
Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in video, photo, audio, and graphics. Must be able to travel across Saskatchewan and possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)





Diploma in Film/Media Production from a recognized post-secondary institute. Five years full-time recent experience in media production. Video Production: Expertise in video production using professional cameras, drones, gimbals, and smartphones. Knowledge of livestreaming, scriptwriting, lighting techniques, video principles, and various video production software. Video Post Production: Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and Da Vinci Resolve. Ability to manipulate video using color correction, grading, keyframing, and speed ramping. Knowledge of motion graphics software. Photography: Expertise in full-frame photography using professional mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Knowledge of proper photography techniques, lighting, and specialized forms of photography. Photo Post Production: Proficiency in photo editing techniques using software such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and CaptureOne. Audio Recording: Strong knowledge of audio production and post-production. Experience with various professional microphones, studio and field mixers/recorders, podcasting production equipment, and audio post-production software. Creativity: Ability to think creatively and generate innovative visual ideas in media production and post-production. Project Management: Ability to produce high-quality media work within restricted timelines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Asset Management: Proficiency in digital media asset management using online systems and familiarity with online client media sharing services. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including client communications and time management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing tools. Lifelong Learning: Ability to stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in video, photo, audio, and graphics. Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy equipment and move lights, tools, props, and other supporting gear. Travel: Ability to travel across Saskatchewan and possess a current driver's license.
