How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Selection and sizing of material handling equipment (like belt conveyors and feeders, apron feeders, screw conveyors etc.).
  • Calculation of conveyor motor horsepower.
  • Preparation of material handling packages (Requisition, technical specification, data sheets), technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews.
  • Assist with conveyor layout arrangements and chutes.
  • Design of platework (chutes, hoppers, bins).
  • Good knowledge of material flow, mass flow bins and chute design.
  • Able to design/analyze/check a broad range of material handling systems.
  • Able to organize and conduct field investigations safely on material handling equipment at Client sites.
  • Organizes and conducts problem investigation and analysis.
  • Work as a part of a multi-discipline EPCM project team to ensure production of high-quality deliverables that meet all Client requirements.
  • Promptly and effectively respond to engineering field technical inquiries as they arise.
  • Ensures work that is prepared under their supervision is in compliance with all applicable codes, company and client standards.
  • Responsible for the validation and accuracy of all detailed engineering calculations performed by members of their team.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to department and project team members.
  • Provide input to proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria, reports, preliminary design and engineering specifications.
  • Commitment to budgets, schedule, quality and safety compliance.
What will you contribute?
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario;
  • Time management, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering codes and standards, including CEMA codes for belt conveyors and screw conveyors, CSA N285.0, CSA N289.3, ASME Section III Division 1 and ASME B31.1 is an asset.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Solidworks, Microstation.
  • Knowledge of dust collection is an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of mining and metallurgy mechanical/ process equipment and systems
