We are currently growing our team and searching for a talented Mechanical Engineer for our engineering team. Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, you will work closely with scientists, engineers and technologists to provide engineering support for the R&D test battery assembly plant and electrode making group (Model Plant R&D). You will also be collaborating with engineers at the manufacturing facilities in Taiwan with the goal of building knowledge for a manufacturing expansion project in Canada. The position provides a good variety of interesting work and will have lots of opportunities for career growth.
Key Responsibilities:

• Travel with engineers from Canada and Taiwan facilities to visit machine vendors in Asia with the purpose of learning about lithium-ion manufacturing technologies;
• Travel to E-One Moli Taiwan (EMT) manufacturing facilities to collaborate with EMT engineers with the purpose of applying manufacturing knowledge to a new factory in Canada;
• Assist in the design and development of new products as part of the engineering team that translates potential new design elements into workable assembly and electrode process solutions in the test battery plant;
• Work on requirements definition, design, assembly and commissioning of new equipment;
• Troubleshoot, develop and optimize existing equipment/processes;
• Create and maintain equipment specifications and operating and maintenance procedures;
• Design jigs, test fixtures, or special tools for use in the battery assembly and testing processes;
• Able and willing to travel internationally (1-2 trips per quarter up to 2 weeks per trip for the first year, and 1-2 trips annually after)

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution as recognized by EGBC.
• Registered as an EIT with EGBC.
• 1-2 years of work experience in a R&D or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in 3D solid modeling and some SolidWorks experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly.
• Good interpersonal skills to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
• Initiative and organizational skills to work independently, as required.
• Proven ability to identify, evaluate, and solve problems.
• Experience with machine shop processes an asset.
• Experience with slurry mixing, coating, design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) are assets.
