Wood has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer for our Process & Energy office in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Key Responsibilities:

  • Building a collaborative and engaged engineering team through positive mentoring/coaching and other innovative strategies
  • Creating an inclusive work environment with a focus on the health and safety of the Wood team, our clients and the communities which are impacted by our work
  • Leading and supporting the discipline department heads in staffing, planning and delivering engineering for small, midsize, and large projects
  • Recruiting, attracting, and developing project engineers and designers to meet the demands of the business
  • Maintaining effective working relationships and communication with management, department heads and clients
  • Ensuring project deliverables satisfy Wood standards and are implemented in a timely, cost effective and consistent manner while always considering safety in our designs
  • Ensuring engineering delivery compliments construction requirements
  • Conducting technical/design reviews and providing technical direction to project engineering teams
  • Work closely with the business unit Chief Engineer to ensure that engineering delivery meets all internal and external code and quality requirements, and that procedures are reviewed and updated regularly to continuously improve efficiencies
  • Managing the development, upgrading and upkeep of our engineering design platforms, and leading the migration of the engineering team to a fully data-centric delivery model
  • Completing regular quality audits and engineering design reviews to ensure that engineering deliverables meet project delivery requirements and targets
  • Monitoring and reporting on engineering performance with respect to budgets, schedules and productivity
  • Work with the business development team and the discipline department heads to prepare/review/approve engineering budgets for proposals
  • Developing, justifying and executing training plans to meet the development needs of the engineering team members and the department as a whole
Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree or Master of Science in Engineering
  • Minimum 10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in an EP/EPC/EPCM project delivery environment, with a preference for individuals with experience in Forest Industries
  • Experience in managing multi-office engineering delivery with international offices and stakeholders/clients
  • Experience in delivery of engineering across all project phases and sizes
  • Experience in managing engineering systems teams, with a preference for AVEVA IE&D/ERM (data-centric) environments
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of engineering management systems, including catalogues of standards, procedures, instructions, specifications, and details
  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with customers and vendors
The successful candidate shall have experience and posses the physical ability to work out of the office on heavy industrial sites independently and safely.

This position is open to Canadian and USA applications only. Relocation allowances will be considered for qualified candidates.
