Actalent is hiring for a Mechanical Engineer for our client in the nuclear industry.
MUST-HAVES
Knowledge & experience working with pressure vessels ; (if from an automotive and aerospace focus on design process, and design specifications / if from mining or oil & gas ASME Section 8)
GD&T, Stack ups, Tolerances (if from Automotive and Aerospace would be even more advanced than nuclear)
Understanding different materials, stainless steel, carbon steel, and zirconium is our main material
Professional Engineering is highly desirable
Minimum if they have 5-7 years within Nuclear or over 8+ years experience outside of Nuclear
Must be able to get CANDU and Bruce Power Clearance
Conceptual and detailed design of fuel channel components including development and qualification testing; and material selection.
The individual will be a fuel channel designer, they will be working on design documentation, procurement documentation, and supporting tech specs for all the fuel channel items for construction. Specific experience in pressure tubes, end fittings, feeder couplings, and design of these components with codes and standards like ASME, and N285, and experience in GD&T and reading and preparing drawings, design calculations, stack-ups, tolerances, clearance checks. Under fuel channel design, we have subgroups, the ones with gaps are preparations of design specification that would be the person who can understand the overview of the fuel channel, how it interfaces with different items, and what you need to demonstrate to show the design is safe based on loads, materials, configurations. This is the middle of analysis and design. x 2
Another area that is specific is the design of different items, someone who can come from automotive, manufacturing or nuclear suppliers who are making nuclear components who know a lot of information on how things work in nuclear. These individuals prepare documentation to go to suppliers who can make the parts, but they will do design calculations to see what happens when we make design changes, looking at suppliers\' drawings to interpret the impacts on our project. They would prepare drawings & specifications to be given to a supplier who would manufacture those parts, and then they would review the suppliers\' requests to make sure what they manufacture is still feasible & up to our requirements. x 2
Execution is the last group, this would be individuals supporting fuel channel, installation inspection, and involved in anything at the site to support our team. We are going to look at deviations at the site and be able to accept or reject the work based on whether it meets the design requirements or not. They will have to do stack-ups to make sure there is no interference when the reactor heats up, assessing whether different issues are causing issues. They will have exposure to execution work and know about how things are doing at the site, they can support them if they don\'t have the major design.
