Septimatech Group Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our Product Engineering Team. Our design team creates custom solutions for our Customers in the Packaging Industry. Duties and Responsibilities
Must be proficient in mechanical design in 2D, 3D, and solid modeling to generate mechanical layouts, sketches, models, and drawings with minimal direction.
Meet with Customers, Sales, Project Managers, other designers, or engineers to understand the needs and requirements for a specific project.
Research, design, evaluate, maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Specify system components, prepare bills of material (BOM's) or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Apply design and fabrication knowledge to ensure project functionality, manufacturability; reliability and cost goals are achieved.
Ability to check completed layouts, drawings, for proper fit and function, ECN's and BOM's for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications and accuracy of calculations, dimension, and tolerances.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and to make recommendations to installation/service technicians.
Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Prepare requirements specifications, risk assessments, product operating instructions and manuals.
Engage in meetings that focus on pre and post measure up and design.
Work Environment
For the most part, must work in an office environment in front of a computer monitor. There is flexibility where working from home at times can be arranged.
Will be required to work in either a manufacturing/machining facility and or consumer product processing facility.
Individual must be willing and able to work in and around machines and equipment.
Travel to customer sites to understand application and gather information needed for the design work as required.
Must hold a Valid Canadian Passport and be willing and able to travel both nationally and internationally randomly throughout the year, hold a valid driver's license and be able to obtain and drive rental cars.
Qualifications:
5+ years of engineering design experience in a manufacturing environment
The individual will have working knowledge of mechanical parts, strength of materials and their mechanical properties.
The candidate must possess either a certificate or degree from a technical college or university in mechanical design, mechatronics or mechanical engineering or related field.
Must be proficient in SolidWorks or comparable 3D design platform(s)
Experience and understanding of ePDM is preferred.
Must possess solid written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able and willing to work in a team environment.
Must be willing and able to learn our products and processes.
Must be a self-starter and work with minimal direction.
Preference given to candidates with Faro-Arm experience.
Requires travel (domestic / international) up to 25% of work time. Must be able to travel on short notice.
