Position OverviewWe are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll contribute to the design and development of a variety of automated and robotic systems, from concept through to detailed mechanical drawings. You'll play a key role in ensuring that designs are practical, efficient, and align with project and customer requirements.
Responsibilitieso Design and develop mechanical systems and automated solutions using SolidWorks CAD software.
Create detailed, accurate drawings and models for manufacturing and assembly in accordance with internal design standards and procedures.
Design automated tooling and ensure integration between electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical components for optimal functionality.
Select appropriate components, materials, and finishes while balancing cost, performance, and durability.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and client requirements.
Adjust and refine designs as needed to accommodate customer feedback or changing project needs.
Ensure all design activities are completed within established timelines (overtime may be required to meet deadlines).
Follow office policies, data protection standards, and safe-work procedures.
Conduct oneself in alignment with SIC Automation's values and employee handbook.
Qualificationso Post-secondary degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within automation, robotics, or machine-building environments.
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
Solid understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and mechanical systems.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively -- both verbally and in writing.
Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Good understanding of robotics and machine operation with some hands-on experience preferred.
Valid Ontario driver's licence and reliable transportation.
Must reside in or be able to commute to the Guelph, Kitchener, or Cambridge area.
