Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Designer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing the machinery and processes used in the production of our sustainable bricks. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for sustainability.
Roles & Responsibilities
? Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes and machinery for the
production of PLAEX sustainable bricks.
? Conduct research and analyse data to identify areas for efficiency improvements and
cost reductions.
? Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for
new / updated PLAEX machinery.
? Lead development and installation of new production machinery.
? Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of PLAEX production equipment.
? Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and
R&D, to ensure product quality and operational efficiency.
? Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in the manufacturing process.
? Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
? Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
? Participate in the continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and
manufacturing processes.
? Stay up-to-date with advancements in mechanical engineering and sustainable
manufacturing technologies.
? Research and place orders for new or used machinery parts.
Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field OR Relevant Experience
? Proven experience as a Mechanical Designer / Engineer, preferably in a manufacturing
environment.
? Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and materials.
? Proficiency in Fusion 360 is required.
? Proficiency in Autodesk design and simulation software would be an asset (AutoCAD,
Inventor, etc.).
? Experience in construction would be an asset.
? Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
? Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
? Understanding of sustainable manufacturing practices and principles (preferred).
? Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).
