We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Building Automation and Controls Estimator
who will play a dual role in both estimating and business development. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to build client relationships, identify growth opportunities, and support our pursuit of new projects within the building automation and controls sector.
ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Technical Duties:
Review project specifications, drawings, and bid documents to determine scope and requirements.
Estimate costs for electrical and building automation systems, including materials, labor, and subcontractor pricing.
Develop and submit competitive bids, proposals, and cost estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technical teams to develop project budgets and timelines.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose value-engineering solutions.
Work with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and availability.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends, products, and technologies.
Support project handovers by providing clear and organized cost documentation.
Business Development Duties:
Support strategic growth by identifying potential clients, partners, and market opportunities in building automation and controls.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and site visits to understand needs and demonstrate technical capabilities.
Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, consultants, and facility managers.
Collaborate with leadership to develop targeted proposals and pursuit strategies.
Contribute to market research and competitive analysis to inform business planning.
Represent Atlas Automation at industry events, trade shows, and professional networking functions to enhance brand awareness.
QualificationsExperience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in estimating for electrical and/or building automation projects.
Prior experience in business development, client relations, or market expansion within the construction or automation industry is an asset.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and automation technologies.
Familiarity with Honeywell Building Automation Systems and Niagara N4 (preferred).
Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
