Job Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer skilled at machine design who knows their way around industrial automation, someone with an eye for detail who can support production while leading innovation to meet the needs of customers. Can you establish rapport within a multidisciplinary team? Do you deliver on promises?

The primary responsibility is the development of mechanical engineering drawings, models and Bill\xe2\x80\x99s of Materials for company product lines.

• Create and modify part models, assemblies and drawings using Solidworks.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of engineering documentation and BOM\xe2\x80\x99s is maintained.
• Specifying and sizing mechanical components such as bearings, bushings, pneumatic cylinders etc.
• Act as liaison between Engineering and Production when required.
• Assist in finding solutions to engineering and production issues as they arise.
• Other miscellaneous duties related to the position and as directed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience with drafting plus work experience designing machinery in the manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and Design For Manufacture (DFM).
• Ability to create motion sequences and logic diagrams
• Ability to size pneumatic components based on dynamic and kinematic requirements
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic fast paced environment.
• Work independently as a specialist with minimal supervision or guidance.
• Certification in Solidworks an asset.
• Experience with packaging machinery or corrugated industry an asset.

Demonstrated strong knowledge and competency in the following areas:

• Bill of Materials and ERP systems
• SolidWorks
• Microsoft Office Suite
• Engineering Change Control processes.
• Familiarity with Engineering Drawing file management.
• Inquisitive, experimental, and creative. Detail-oriented, open-minded, and willing to learn.
• Able to work in Canada without Company sponsorship

Experience Required

• 5 - 7 years: Electro-Mechanical Machine design and automation
• 5 - 7 years: CAD design software \xe2\x80\x93 Solidworks & Autocad
• 5 - 7 years: Bills of Materials & execution of production in a repetitive manufacturing environment
• 5 year(s): Manufacturing Industry

Preferred

• 5 - 7 years: Knowledge of packaging machinery, corrugated industry and manufacturing processes

Education Preferred

• Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field
