Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

What you will be doing:

Conduct thorough analysis and calculations for mechanical equipment used in the Steel Industry.

Prepare project specifications and technical documentation.

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure cohesive mechanical design.

Supervise and guide a small team of mechanical designers and draftspersons, if necessary.

Generate proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and initial design concepts.

Create detailed calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches.

Transform initial concepts into final designs, including detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc. Investigate and report field issues.

Offer on-site technical support during major machinery installations.

Assist the sales team by providing technical expertise during customer visits.

Provide guidance and support to colleagues.

What you must have:

Hold a B.Sc. or B.Eng. degree in Mechanical Engineering. P.Eng. registration in the Province of Ontario is preferred but not mandatory.

Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in designing heavy industrial machinery, specifically in the Steel Mill and/or Steel Coil Processing equipment or mining sectors.

Familiarity with the design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment.

Proficiency in 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks. Strong computer skills, including MS Office, FEA Analysis, MathCAD, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Display problem-solving skills, utilizing sound judgment and decision-making capabilities.

Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Hold a valid passport for occasional travel within Canada and to the U.S.A.
