REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor or Rig Superintendent

DEPARTMENT: Maintenance

LOCATION: Offshore Newfoundland, Canada

TERMS of EMPLOYMENT: Temporary until at least March 2nd, 2024

START DATE: December 18th, 2023

JOB SUMMARY: Assist in maintaining and repairing mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the rig

PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Technical Certificate from a recognized body
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years previous experience in a Mechanic role
• Previous experience on an offshore drilling rig would be considered an asset
• Required trainings: Basic Survival Training, H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, 1-Day Offshore Fall Protection
• Knowledge of technical calculations required for safe operation of the drilling unit and basic computer skills
• Must pass Physical, Drug Screen and Background /Pre-Employment Screening Checks.

Position Requirements

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic installation, maintenance, and repair in a safe and prudent manner
• Responsible for conducting regular checks to verify if all mechanical equipment is in a safe working condition
• Responsible for stock management and for ordering all the spare parts related to mechanical equipment
• Monitor any mechanical equipment supplied by other contractors or sub-contractors to ensure that it is suitable for uses within the areas desired
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment and tools
• Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and/or patterns of equipment.
• Carry out periodic maintenance according to the guidelines
• Ensure that requirements concerning regulatory bodies are met in all cases of equipment repair and installation
• Comply with the permit to work and isolation system
• Maintain service reports and advise supervisor on condition of equipment and spare parts requirements
• Other duties as assigned.
