Construction LP (Valard) is Canada\xe2\x80\x99s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the and part of the Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications, and renewable energy.

Our Fleet Department is seeking a Full-Time Apprentice/Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic or Truck and Transport Technician to join our team.

Requirements

• Maintenance and repair of internal combustion engines and components, both stationary and mobile
• Certified in off-road and on-road vehicle maintenance
• maintenance and repair of gas engines, diesel engines, and compressors
• maintenance and repair of tracked equipment (e.g. crawler tractors)
• maintenance and repair of ground engaging equipment and components
• maintenance and repair of earth moving equipment
• maintenance and repair of tractors
• maintenance and repair of on-highway and off-highway motor vehicles (e.g. trucks)
• maintenance and repair of towed on-highway and off-highway vehicles (e.g. trailers)

• Must be able to interpret work orders and technical manuals
• Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems
• General testing and repairs of equipment for proper performance, ensuring that the work is done meets manufacturers\' specifications and legislated regulations
• Write detailed and accurate service/maintenance reports
• Mentor and provide sufficient training with Heavy Duty Mechanic apprentices as required
• Have a valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and a clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract
• Must be willing to travel out of town when required
• Performed all other duties as assigned
• Preference will be given to applicants with utility equipment experience (digger, crane and backhoe)
• Class 1 or 3 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license is an asset
• CVIP certification would be considered an asset
