The Material Control Coordinator is responsible for providing support to the maintenance management function through planning of maintenance and materials management activities in conjunction with the Maintenance Lead. The Material Control Coordinator is responsible to accurately maintain records of equipment and materials and preparing material receipts and material transfers.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide visible leadership with a Total Ownership attitude. Owns safety standard.
  • Enforce, clarify, and follow Company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Support the HSE objective of no injuries, accidents or harm to the environment as it relates to all maintenance processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Promote operational excellence through procedural discipline.
  • Comply with platform emergency response plan or station bills during emergencies and/ or drills.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintenance planning and assistance.
  • SAP data input and processing PMR validation including PMR planning and co-ordination, creating, updating and completing notifications/work orders.
  • Responsible for procurement traceability including tracking material and equipment repairs and maintaining the integrity of Materials Masters.
  • Responsible for maintaining records of equipment, materials, supplies and spare parts.
  • Prepare material receipts and material transfers and participate in inspections, inventories, and audits.
  • Create job requests and work orders as required and enter into maintenance tracking system
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Lead/Rig Superintendent on the maintenance, repair and refurbishment of equipment.
  • Ensure an adequate amount of spare parts are on hand at all times.
  • Enter maintenance and repair data into a Maintenance Management System (MMS)
  • Maintain efficient stores management and practices to ensure parts and equipment retain full reliability while stored.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and special projects as may be directed.

  • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be a self-motivator and work without close supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize jobs and work under tight time constraints.
  • Must have good PC skills to include MS Office products.
  • Must possess sound reasoning skills, good common sense and have the ability to follow directions.
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of him/her or others.
  • Must be able to recognize hazards, alarms, warnings and the ability to convey these to the proper personnel.
  • Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate in English with staff, management, customers and vendors.
Education, experience, and certifications:
  • High School diploma is required.
  • SAP experience is required.
Must be able to obtain appropriate offshore certifications:
  • Basic Survival Training (BST)
  • Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S)
  • Installation Safety Induction
  • Regulatory Awareness
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Transportation of Goods Air & Marine
Physical demands and work environment

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. The employee will be required to meet all standards required for safe operations, including but not limited to the standards set forth in the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers Atlantic Canada Medical Assessment for Fitness to Work Offshore as well as any other standards set forth by regulatory bodies having jurisdiction over the operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull and use repetitive wrist and hand movements. The employee may be required to lift and/or move objects of up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to tolerate continuous vibrations and elevated noise levels as well as tolerate wearing personal protective equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, steel toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles and full body harness. The employee must stay mentally alert for entire regular shift and must have the ability of simultaneously rapid mental coordination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position will be located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador on the Hibernia platform and is subject to extreme temperatures and environments. Travel to and from the work location may require extended layovers in unfamiliar locations by helicopter or boat. Potential for exposure to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, chemicals, grease and oil are possible. Working with ladder and scaffolds and climbing to heights of 200 feet while carrying tools is possible. Parker Drilling will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the requirements pertaining to the job. Employee must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per day, 21 days on and 21 days off.
