Job Responsibilities:
To provide instruction to children, youth and adults in the two QEPCCC ceramic studios. The successful applicant must be an independent, reliable individual able to work with minimal supervision and expected to assist in developing curriculum. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing, leading and delivering children, youth and adult clay classes, including hand building and wheel throwing, to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program.
  • Assisting with research and development of appropriate clay programming for children, youth and adults, ensuring that activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
  • Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
  • To support Town department objectives and mandate
Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program specializing in ceramics
  • Experience developing clay lessons and activity plans for children, youth and adults in a ceramic studio
  • Previous teaching experience in ceramics in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of contemporary craft and ceramics including hand building and wheel throwing
  • Familiar with a broad range of artistic techniques, practices and materials with hand building and wheel throwing
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) for instructing children's programs ages 4-12 years.
  • Successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening, dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
