Position Title: Marketing Sponsorships and Activation Manager

Team and Location: Strategic Marketing - Calgary, AB l Toronto, ON l Montreal, QC l Miami, FL l Salt Lake, UT

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing Execution, overseeing Canada and the US, the Manager of Sponsorships and Activations will be an integral member of Parkland's strategic marketing team. In this role, they will be responsible for leading Parkland's sponsorship strategy and day-to-day management of partner relationships and the development and execution of sponsorship programs. The successful candidate will coordinate and execute the planning, communication, delivery, and reporting of Parkland's high-value and long-term sponsorship initiatives and promotional partnerships. With an evolved portfolio including, Indy Car racing, hockey, football, soccer and golf, they will help align organizational priorities and support business objectives, while developing benefits and activations that add value to our many customer facing brands. Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a cohesive sponsorship strategy that incorporates various partners and integrates multiple Parkland brands including our loyalty and rewards program, c-store retail brand and regionalized fuel banners.
  • Execute and manage sponsorship programs and deliverables as well as oversee on-site activations including event marketing, promotions, traditional and digital advertising, content creation, and event hosting. 60-70% of time focused on racing partnership and 30-40% of time on all other sponsorships.
  • Develop and execute compelling activations at sponsored events, being innovative while creating memorable and engaging experiences that build brand affinity. Capture sharable content that enhances Parkland's brand value.
  • Research, evaluate and review incoming sponsorship opportunities and requests. Negotiate and manage new & existing agreements - including delivery and utilization of contractual assets.
  • Build and foster relationships serving as the main point of contact for partners managing communication internally and externally, to maintain and grow partnerships.
  • Manage key agency relationships, deliverables, budgets and timelines providing detailed marketing briefs ensuring goals and objectives are clearly outlined with intended results confirmed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Marketing, Loyalty, Operations and Merchandising to provide creative and strategic sponsorship opportunities that build brand affinity, drive sales and amplify existing campaigns/communications.
  • Track, measure, and report on sponsorship activity, results & KPIs. Refine sponsorship evaluation and activation processes as required.
  • Assist with financial management, budgeting, invoicing, etc.
  • Overall responsibility for procedural governance of legal, privacy and security regulations related to marketing sponsorship initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Significant experience (5-10 years) and a proven track record in the field of sponsorship marketing, sports/car racing marketing or brand management experience is preferred.
  • University degree in Marketing, PR, communication, business, or related field.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and self-directed, with strong attention to detail.
  • Superior communication, relationship, and partner liaison skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office skills, particularly with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Distinct knowledge and understanding of marketing fundamentals.
  • Strong negotiating and partner management skillset required.
  • Ability to plan projects from conception to implementation.
  • High energy to produce results through periods of heavy work or fast-paced conditions.
  • Comfortable in a role that requires both strategic thinking and operational implementation.
  • French language skill considered an asset.
  • Position will require 10-25% travel a month (including some weekend related events).
