Job Description

Summary of day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Meeting with tech folks and agencies to help understand what they can do with the tech, going to the marketers to explain what's new and what they can do, help the marketers find ideas and translate those into roadmaps, on the flip side going to the tech teams and letting them know what the marketers want to do. Some project work and project coordination.
  • Working with a cross-functional delivery team within agile acting as the product owner. Prioritizing the backlog and setting the product vision and ensuring campaigns are delivered on time with a heavy focus on maximizing efficiency and team utilization.
Department Overview
  • As part of client's Marketing department, the North American Personalization, Digital Marketing and Orchestration team is responsible for leading our digital marketing and 1:1 channels transformation. The team carries the mandate to build the digital marketing ecosystem and enable personalized 1:1 communications at all interactions with our customers.

  • Client is looking for new ways to disrupt the status quo, go to market faster and optimize customer experiences. This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and real-world experience distilling business value and goals into roadmaps. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Orchestration and Decisioning, the Product Owner will work closely with key partners across Marketing, Journeys and Platforms to deliver marketing campaigns that align with customer needs and preferences. This role will be accountable for maximizing speed to market for all marketing campaigns and ensuring business value and ROI is met balancing scope and complexity.
  • This role will also support Email Strategy & Capabilities' and will drive the advancement of Email marketing through influencing others in the adoption and sophistication of capability usage: Salesforce Marketing Cloud: Email Studio, Einstein, Journey Builder, and Interaction Studio; Moveable Ink; Bluerush; and etc.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Journeys and Platforms to craft the product vision, roadmap and prioritize the campaign backlog (e.g business value, ROI).
  • Monitoring and evaluating all stages of campaign creation including design and development, testing, roll-out.
  • Assisting the campaign delivery team to meet the objectives, participating in all agile rituals and activities (e.g. Kanban, retrospectives, user story creation).
  • Liaising with Platforms to maximize efficiency and utilization of the team (e.g. best-practice adoption for development and QA).
  • Serve as the product ambassador internally and externally with customers and stakeholders, sharing knowledge, answering questions and providing progress updates.
  • Collaborating with Journey to analyze post-campaign reporting to unearth future opportunities.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to create and update processes with an ability to lead process improvement efforts.
  • Escalate issues as needed and work with governance committee to remove impediments for the team.
  • Keeping current with marketing and agile best practices and trends.
  • Support other orchestration and decisioning initiatives as needed including managing the 1:1 inbound processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as an intermediary between internal and external partners: Line-of-Business Marketers, Marketing Technology, our Email Agency & Lead, Technology Vendors, Marketing Analytics, and Email Sales-Performance teams.
  • Translate business needs to technical requirements, and technical capabilities to business outcomes to meet business objectives and customer needs
  • Lead the strategy, implementation plan, and utilization of new and existing email capabilities including but not limited to Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio and Einstein); Email Optimization and Measurement (Moveable Ink, Bluerush, Persado, and Validity); and Orchestration/Automation (Salesforce Journey Builder, Salesforce Interaction Studio, Unica/HCL and Interact/Campaign)
Professional Experience:
  • An undergraduate degree or college diploma in Digital Marketing, Business, Computer Science, or related field
  • Relevant professional certifications (ex: Salesforce Trailhead badges) would be an asset
  • 3-5 years working in Email Marketing
  • Product Owner Certification
Must have:
  • Experience in Email Marketing and associated Email Service Provider (ESP) technologies: Salesforce Email Studio (Exact Target), Oracle (Eloqua), Adobe (Marketo), or similar.
  • Technologically inclined, with a solid understanding of the technical aspects of Email Marketing
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills: presentation, written, and oral. An ability to translate business needs to technical requirements, and technical specs to business outcomes.
  • Self-sufficient: comfortable with ambiguity and to take ownership over driving the program forward
  • Collaborative in nature: Ability to work with a cross functional team of marketers, technologists, and analysts.
  • Strong organizational awareness and knowledge of business, operational functions, methods and regulatory requirements to solve complex problems and develop new solutions.
Nice to have:
  • Experience in MarTech (Marketing Technology) would be an asset
  • Moveable Ink; BlueRush; Salesforce's Einstein, Journey Builder, Interaction Studio, Ad Studio, and CDP
  • Experience with Agile tools and methodologies (ex: Scrum, Sprints, Kanbans).
  • Product Owner certification is an asset.
  • Experience working in Jira.
  • Expertise in campaign delivery and marketing capabilities like Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Interact
  • Ability to drive results working with cross functional teams, planning and prioritization with a bias for action
